What exactly is this website for?

To put it simply, it’s to archive fun and interesting literary works that were published throughout history.

But there’s more to it.

The internet holds such a vast wealth of information, but it’s all spread-out, and often behind a paywall. While I understand the need for upkeep on these websites, I do feel that a lot of the subscriptions are overpriced, or lacking in what it’s supposedly offering. On top of that, most of these works are out of copyright, and yet are being fiercely guarded by some as if they themselves created these pieces and don’t want the world to see them.

I know those sentiments may seem blunt and/or harsh, but there’s so many fascinating publications made throughout history that offer a glimpse into what life was like in those times,. And yet, it feels like we have to jump through hoops to be able to access them.

Of course, not everyone is like that. Some of these subscription-based sites offer many other resources, such as classes and seminars that do deep dives in different historical topics. There are also plenty of blogs and sites that do their best to try to provide these resources to us for free, and even give more research on who published it, when it was published, and the impact it had. I wholeheartedly applaud their efforts and encourage everyone to continue to support these ones who put their time and energy into making their resources available to us.

The main goal we have is to be on open archive. A space were people can turn to so they can read these pieces of literature themselves, without having to scour the internet.

As we expand our collection, we truly hope that this site can be of some benefit to those interested in these historical publications!
