Because of copyright reasons, the archive is a mixture of images of the original documents, and transcripts we have carefully made from the original images.

All of these publications would be out of copyright, however, whoever scanned them have claim over the image themselves.
We check each publication before download them to make sure the file is public domain. If it’s not, we will manually transcribe the item instead, since the information itself is still out of copyright.

Absolutely not. We created this so that these precious pieces of history can be shared easily and freely.
